November 5, 2008 - 2:27pm

Dear humanity,

I hate you for letting this happen.  I hate you and you should be ashamed of yourself.

I can't think of a Seattle sporting event that I've ever been to where I didn't see him playing outside before and after the game.  When I saw Foo Fighters at the Key Arena this past summer he was there playing away before and after the show.

I hope those responsible get life in prison with no chance for parole.  The sad truth is that the little bastards will be tried as juveniles and will maybe spend a year in jail.

November 2, 2008 - 10:39

You know what sucks?  A big update and then your web editor crashes like a dumb bastard.

So instead of redoing all that stuff here is some bad ass Fishbone to groove your soul.

Ghetto Soundwave

God our products suck.  It is amazing that I still get paid every week.

August 30, 2008 - 3:27pm

This is going to be totally awesome.  In the words of Gandalf the Grey, "Run you fools".

August 6, 2008 - 9:23am

Who cares?  Seriously.  I pay absolutely zero attention to stupid celebrity goings on and I've seen so many "news" stories in the last few months about those two jackasses having twins that I may have to destroy a small country.  Or at least Hollywood.  Why is that news?  Why does anyone care?  I'd love to know.

August 3, 2008 - 4:12pm

It was a nice day today and a thread over at the Alembic forum prompted me to take a new Alembic family portrait.  I feel extremely lucky to have two of these amazing instruments.  Some of the guys over at that forum have four, five, and more of these things that they've custom ordered.  This guy doesn't have that kind of disposable income.

Picture pages.

July 26, 2008 - 11:04am

As I type one of the cats is trying desperately to get behind the blinds... oh, he made it.  The little jackass.

On to my point.  How sad is the music industry that the Rolling Stones were the top earners last year?  They haven't released a decent album in 30 years - 1978's Some Girls was their last offering that didn't completely suck and even that album wasn't stellar all the way through.  They have become a mockery of themselves and continue to sell out stadiums around the world.  Sad sad sad.

There is plenty of great music out there to be heard.  It is pathetic that it isn't getting the recognition it so deserves.

July 22, 2008 - 4:00pm

Time for rant v2.0.  Leilani has been torturing me all day with pictures of this dumbass at work wearing a Utilikilt.

FYI - Utilikilts are not cool.  They do not make you Scottish or look Scottish.  They make you look like a complete and total dumbass.  I've got nothing against kilts.  If you're of Scottish decent wear that tartan with pride, laddy.  Go reggie(sp?) for all I care.  If you are not Scottish leave the kilt alone.

Who needs a taint-punch?

This guy:

This guy:

And these guys:

To name a few.

July 22, 2008 - 3:12pm

Eddie Izzard for the win.

Absolutely brilliant.

July 9, 2008 - 3:24pm

Thanks to Dan Teisan for this moment of brilliance:

June 22, 2008 - 11:58pm

Dammit.  RIP George.  You were an early hero of mine.  I can't tell you how many hours I wasted away of my early childhood listening to your stand up routines.

Occupation foole indeed.

May 22, 2008 - 6:40pm

Rant version 2.0?  Sure.

Sweet evil Jumping Jesus Horatio Christ on a bike, Jimmy!  I just paid $4.27 a gallon for premium gas - the New Hotness requires premium because rotary engines are picky like that.  This is where I'll throw a huge middle finger at oil companies everywhere for screwing we, the consumers, over.  Yeah.  You're suffering with your record quarterly profits.  Sure you are.  Awful jackasses.  With any luck you'll all get the plague and die horribly.

May 20, 2008 - 8:50am

May 15, 2008 - 3:24pm

Leilani and I saw Iron Man last night.  Holy damn.  Best super hero movie ever.  Period.  Ever.  I loved everything about that movie.  I will buy it on DVD immediately.  I will probably see it in the theater at least one more time.

If you still haven't seen it I suggest running quickly to the nearest theater and checking it out.  You won't be disappointed.

May 7, 2008 - 10:03pm

I seriously have never actually been really excited about a cell phone before.  That was before I bought one of these on Monday this week.  Holy damn.

If you have the means I highly suggest picking one up.  Everything about it rules.  The iPhone wishes it were this cool.

May 7, 2008 - 4:48pm

OK.  So I was going to create a "rant" section of this site but this will do fine.  And now I give you Rant Version 1.0.

Bruce Springsteen sucks ass.  Seriously.  It is absurd how many people worship "the boss" like he is this amazing musical talent.  Guess what?  He's not.  I don't care how good a show you put on if your music sucks, your music sucks.  And Springsteen's music sucks.  Hugely.  In his vast catalog of material there is not a single song that is even remotely worth listening to once; let alone repeated listening.  If I ever hear his version of "Pink Cadillac" again I'm going to personally burn down the radio station responsible for torturing me with it.  I'll also have to deliver a firm taint-punch to the DJ.  And the program director.

So there.

April 19, 2008 - 1:32am

I'm all about attorney-client privileges but this is just ridiculous.  How do you give that guy back 26 years of his life?  You can't.  That's wrong in just so many ways.

April 18, 2008 - 6:40pm

Uhhhh... it's April and stuff.  It's not supposed to be snowing in Seattle.

My backyard about 10 minutes ago:

April 4, 2008 - 4:24pm

Damn Canucks.

Here's to next year.

Go Habs!

April 3, 2008 - 10:33am

"I'm so tired, I haven't slept a wink.

I'm so tired, my mind is on the blink.." - John Lennon

Didn't sleep much at all last night but it's my own damn fault and at least I was doing something fun.

Big huge props to my friend Sam who sent me this link today.  Holy hell.  That is some comedy right there.

March 31, 2008 - 10:06pm

This is awesome.  For anyone not in the Seattle area and/or not a Mariners fan you might not know who Dave Neihaus is.  He has been the Seattle Mariners announcer since day one of the franchise.  He's like the Harry Cary of Seattle - only without the drunken banter and singing of "Take Me Out To The Ballgame".  Dave is fantastic and it will be a very sad day when he calls it quits.  Good on you, Dave.  You rule.

It's grand salami time.

March 30, 2008 - 5:48pm

Friday afternoon I got a call from Chad at Bass Northwest.  My custom Alembic Rogue 5 string had arrived.

Click here for sexy bass sounds and pictures.

I can't even begin to say enough good things about this instrument.  It far exceeded my very high expectations.  It sounds like the hammer of the gods.  It looks absolutely stunning.  It is pure bass perfection in every way.  I can't thank the fine people at Alembic enough for making this thing a reality; especially in such a short amount of time!  It was just shy of 5 months from ordering it to delivery.  For a custom made to order instrument that is quite speedy.  I was fully anticipating more like 6+ months - not that I'm complaining.

March 26, 2008 - 2:57pm

Boy do I suck at that guessing game.  "Worst case" grand total is $2329.67.  That is assuming they need to replace the front bumper because it is pushed in right now but it is impossible to tell whether or not it will "bounce back" when the pressure is removed.

March 26, 2008 - 12:07pm

I'm a little... disappointed.

(Note that it helps to think of Zorg saying that and doing the little face twitch thing)

I was at a friend's house last night.  Someone leaving sort of decided it was a good idea to back out of the driveway without looking to see if someone might be parked there.  I don't know how the hell you miss something like a fucking car parked at the end of the driveway.  Especially when you are looking at the end of the driveway when you exit the house.  Less than two months.  LESS THAN TWO MONTHS and someone already damaged my New Hotness.  I'm having an estimate done in about an hour.  My guess: $1000 for a new fender and paint.  The fender is way too creased on the form lines to fix that one.  We'll see later how close I am.

March 24, 2008 - 5:52pm

So... what happens when you get some unexpected cash and Musician's Friend is having a ridiculous sale on an already inexpensive instrument?

You get a new bass at my house.  That's what.

This thing totally rules especially when you consider what it is.  For a mere $200 I couldn't possibly say "no".  It brings ridiculous amounts of The Rock as you can hear for yourself by listening to the sound clips over on that linked page above.  Go ahead.  Browse on over and check it out.

March 4, 2008 - 11:03am

Old Man Faaaavreeaa retires.  What's the world coming to?

March 2, 2008 - 7:15pm

Had a great birthday yesterday!  This was mostly due to my wonderful and amazing girlfriend (I love you!).  Gig on Friday night with LSD was pretty cool even though the crowd was rather small.

Meanwhile the Mister Miyagi summer / rest of the year calendar is filling up rapidly.  Which rules hugely.

I believe I'm going to go waste several hours playing video games now.

February 29, 2008 - 1:05am

All leap year style I hit you up.  I can't even figure out what happened to February.  It seems like just yesterday I posted that last entry.

I'm very sad to say that the great Buddy Miles passed last night.  He was a great musician who played with a lot of fine people over the years.  If you're not hip to him you really should check it out.

Much love to everyone.  I'll be hipping you to stuff more often this next month.  Promise.

February 4, 2008 - 8:13am

Big ol' props to the G men for pulling off the victory yesterday.

The new hotness:  2008 RX-8 GT

The ugly orange side markers will be replaced tomorrow whenever the FedEx guy gets here with the clear ones and stealth bulbs.  I just don't understand why Mazda doesn't just use the clear ones in the first place.

January 28, 2008 - 11:58am

It's snowing again so I finally took another picture of global warming visiting Seattle.

Here is the scene in my back yard right now:

...and of course a certain retard had to make sure I wasn't doing anything too terribly fun:

January 28, 2008 - 10:13am

Global warming totally visited Seattle again last night.  I haven't bothered getting the camera out to take pictures.  Perhaps later.  Looks like about 2 1/2" outside my house right now.  Neat.  Snow rules.

In Very eXtremely Sad News I should be getting a call from my insurance company today to discuss how much money they are going to give me for my RX-8.  They're totaling it.  If you saw the damage you'd never believe that the estimate would reach over $17,000 to fix it... which is just shy of 2/3 the cost of the car new.  Amazing.  The one thing I have going for me is that mine has very low miles on it and it is in immaculate condition.  Similar cars are still demanding $24-25K.  So hopefully I can get $25,000 out of the bastards and then see about finding a new one.  I might get a black one this time... might stick with white.  Still haven't made up my mind.  The owner of the body shop is being gracious enough to let me come in with my tools and remove all the aftermarket stuff I put in the car.  I'm guessing it'll take 4 to 5 hours to get the radar detector and stereo removed alone.  *sigh*

RIP.

January 25, 2008 - 10:48am

This is The ComedyTM.

January 23, 2008 - 7:05pm

It's bloody cold outside and my stupid furnace only decides to listen to the thermostat about 25% of the time.  Which means more often times than not I wake up in the morning and the house is a "brisk" 50 degrees.  HUTTAH!!  The marble floors in the bathroom are not fun to walk on with bare feet - that much is safe to say.  I really need to have that looked at but I Fear what they might tell me.  I can already hear the "you need to get a new furnace" ringing in my ears.  Stupid furnace.  If I go downstairs and turn it off and then back on it works like it is supposed to for a few cycles at least - so I can keep the house warm by manually turning it on and monitoring it.  So I guess there is that.

January 18th, 2008 - 10:14am

Happy.  Very very happy.

January 15, 2008 - 9:13am

Global warming totally visited the Seattle area last night.

...and my cat was extremely interested in whatever it was I did outside

January 10, 2008 - 1:38pm

No more myspace for me.  Hate.  Worthless waste of time that I got sucked into.  I don't think I've felt that liberated deleting an account somewhere ever.

January 10, 2008 - 1:00pm

A musical gift for you, the loyal reader.

Ain't No Sunshine

Jolene

I wish I could write songs like that.

January 3, 2008 - 2:53pm

Gee, REALLY?

My favorite bit from that linked article: "Our findings suggest the free samples serve as a marketing tool, not a safety net,"

Well yeah.  Of course they do.  Like big ass companies that are out to make a ton of money on drugs are going to just give away their expensive products to people who can't afford to buy more.  It's the same tactic that drug dealers use - first try is free (or near it), then you have to pay for it.

By the way:

January 1, 2008 - 4:29pm

Yeah.  The boobies below are still very extremely funny.  Look at that guy in the front.  He's totally going to bust a move at any second.

I'm finally feeling better for those that were concerned.  2007 got its final kick in my nuts by giving me (what I'm guessing was) the plague, avian bird flu, and the common cold.

So... new year.  Neat.  It started off pretty decent last night at The Central with much rock being brought.  I totally got to see Steve and Randy (bouncers) drag some drunk idiot out and throw him into a parked car as well.  That totally ruled.  Then the dude was stupid enough to get up and try to get in Randy's face.  Bad, bad, bad move.  I was really hoping to see Randy kick the ever-living piss out of him but alas, Randy is much smarter than that and he just went back inside.  Sad.  I believe it was shortly after that when I bought a hotdog.  It was tasty.

Resolutions?  I have a few.  I hope I keep them like I kept last year's.

I leave you with two must-see videos:

Marvin Gaye w/ James Jamerson on bass - What's Going On?

Chicago w/ Al Green - check out the smile on Peter Cetera's face

December 26, 2007 - 10:17am

Ouch.  I'm sick.  My head is burning and my throat feels like raw beef.  This is the worst Jesus Birthday Present ever.

Those boobies down there are still making me laugh though.

December 25, 2007 - 10:33am

The holidays piss me off.

But boobies don't:

Look at 'em go.

December 18, 2007 - 4:08pm

New.  Simple.  Those are two words that describe version 2.0 of this website.  "Boring" would also apply but that's your problem not mine there silly tits.  For whatever reason I got sick of the previous design and wanted to change things up.  Well, several tries and revisions later and I came to the conclusion that simple was best.  So here it is in all it's not-so-glory.  Yea.  I'm going to try desperately to do more with this blog thingie than I have in the past - including putting some rants about various stuff and things as I see fit to do so.  And with that I'll leave you with these words that popped into my head randomly while between sets at my last gig:

"Yo, I wish I was a little bit taller, I wish I was a baller, I wish I had a girl who looked good I would call her, I wish I had a rabbit in a hat with a bat, and a six-four Impala"  -Skee-Lo
